A new study looked at adults who were hospitalised with RSV. The researchers published the results in Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Many patients still had serious problems for months after they left hospital. These problems included breathlessness and difficulty doing daily activities. Some people stayed unwell for as long as a year.

The study was led by Aleda Leis and funded by the CDC. The authors say vaccination can prevent RSV or make the illness less severe.
