HIF1 protein linked to tendon pain

Researchers at ETH Zurich found that part of the HIF1 protein controls gene activity in tendon cells and can trigger tendinopathy. Experiments in mice and human tissue show HIF1 remodels collagen, makes tendons brittle and may cause pain.
