Global Voices has a close relationship with Nepal and Nepali people. Kathmandu hosted the Global Voices summit, and delegates met there for two days with journalists, activists and technologists from different places.

One longtime supporter, Nathan Matias (Nate), decided to try an Everest Roam cycling challenge. The challenge asks riders to climb more than 10,000 metres in less than 36 hours and to ride at least 400 kilometres. Nate is doing the ride to support Global Voices' fundraising.

Global Voices set a fundraising goal of USD 250,000. The Nepalese community made a Nepali-language playlist for Nate and another playlist for supporters to use during the campaign.
