Global Voices has long ties with Nepali culture and people, and many longtime contributors come from Nepal. The organisation also works with Nepali media, including one close partner, The Nepali Times. Kathmandu hosted the Global Voices 2024 summit, where delegates spent two days connecting with journalists, activists, technologists and others.

Supporter Nathan Matias (Nate) chose to take on an Everest Roam cycling challenge to help the organisation raise funds. The challenge asks riders to climb more than 10,000 metres in under 36 hours and to cover at least 400 kilometres. Nate's ride is part of the fundraising effort.

Global Voices aims to raise USD 250,000 to continue cross‑border reporting, translation and work that supports underrepresented communities. To encourage Nate, members of the Nepalese community created a Nepali-language playlist for him and a general playlist for supporters. These musical gestures are meant to boost morale and show solidarity. Further updates may follow as the campaign continues.
