Historians are looking at how earlier technologies changed work and daily life. They say inventions like the assembly line, trains, cars, airplanes and the internet all caused worry about jobs and the economy.

On February 10 a post by entrepreneur Matt Shumer on X said he was "no longer needed" for his technical work and the post has 86 million views. New AI tools such as Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 can write code, analyse data, or make reports in seconds and can run several tasks together. The speed and power of these tools make debates about work, regulation, and social impact more urgent.
