In 2025 Pornhub reported that “Lesbian” was its most viewed category and “Transgender” was the second most viewed. Google searches for "AI porn generators" have risen, and one site received 8.57 million visitors in January.
AI porn is often created by models trained on large collections of images and videos, not a single person. Researchers say this raises legal and ethical problems. Some groups can be targeted with hateful or non-consensual images.
Some laws now address deepfakes. The U.S. passed the TAKE IT DOWN Act to ban intimate non-consensual images, and some states have criminal penalties or rules such as required watermarking.
