Photos of lobster dishes posted by members of the ruling AKP caused public anger during a deepening cost-of-living crisis. One MP later apologised and said the picture was from a family holiday.
The lobster pictures were taken at the Yacht Club de Monaco, a private club. Online critics said the posts gave a bad image while many people face rising prices and poverty.
Other MPs also shared luxury photos, and some deleted posts after negative reactions. Memes replaced the party logo and the debate became widely visible on social media.
