In October, MASIPAG and partners ran a national agroecology workshop and fair in the capital region. The fair showed local farm products and had a solidarity cooking session. Earth Island Institute-Asia-Pacific organised an outdoor kitchen, and a campaign coordinator said the live cooking linked everyday food with wider struggles for land and the environment.
MASIPAG also submitted objections to a planned local ordinance favouring GMOs. More than 50 local farming associations opposed it, and the group filed a position letter signed by more than 3,000 individuals from two districts of Negros. Around 65 farmer leaders met to discuss health and ecosystem risks. MASIPAG will connect COP30 outcomes with grassroots work and release an op-ed video about the workshop and fair.
