Safashahr, in the mountains of Fars province, faces a worsening water crisis and drier public spaces. Two years ago a table tennis association started to build sports facilities and to encourage players and families to act for the environment.
The group has run plastic‑free campaigns in halls and built small water troughs for wildlife. In a recent event near the village of Dehbid, with help from the local natural resources department, residents and many young players planted 400 drought‑resistant trees, mainly wild almond and arjan.
Families said children felt proud to help the land. The association plans to keep doing environmental work and to sign an agreement with local environment authorities.
