Researchers at Duke Health and the University of Minnesota studied small RNA molecules called piRNAs in blood. They looked at adults aged 71 and older and measured many small RNAs in blood samples.
The team linked those measurements to survival over two years. Using machine learning and causal AI, they found that a few piRNAs predicted two-year survival. A simple blood test could help identify short-term health risk in older adults.
