Ramata Diallo founded the Africa Fashion Tour media platform after studying Fashion Management. Her project reports on designers and other fashion professionals across the continent.
The platform highlights local crafts, ethical production and luxury techniques. Diallo says cultural visibility can become economic viability and that African style does not have to change for Western markets.
Local fabrics such as Kente need many hours of handwork. Designers often work closely with clients, who can act as stylists. Visibility on runways and in media brings orders and helps brands grow.
