Researchers found that a common eight-question depression test gives similar results for people with and without chronic pain. The study used a large 2019 US health survey and says clinicians can trust positive screens in patients with pain.

Immune cells may explain why women have longer pain

New research finds that a subset of immune cells, monocytes, release interleukin-10 (IL-10) to switch off pain. These IL-10-producing cells were more active in males, a difference linked to sex hormones and seen in mice and people.
