OSIA is an artificial intelligence platform made for secondary school students in Cameroon. Frédéric Ngaba, who has a PhD in analytical mathematics, and a team built a tutor trained on Cameroon’s education programmes. The tutor can interact in twenty languages.
The platform gives access to a bank of more than 400 exam-style tests compiled with help from the Cameroon Baccalaureate Office and the General Certificate of Education. Students enter their annual grades, say their aspirations and complete a psychometric test. The AI creates an academic profile to help find hidden talent.
Subscriptions cost 3,000 CFA francs a year for Cameroonians and there is another fee for students living abroad. OSIA has 13,500 subscribers in 23 schools and has won awards and support from organisations like the World Bank and Orange Cameroon. SEDUC authorised the tool to operate.
