Dubioza kolektiv released the single "Balkan Boys" and its music video quickly became a hit across the Western Balkans. Meta.mk reported that the video reached over four million views on social networks in a few weeks. On YouTube it has over 1.2 million views, Instagram shows over 2.4 million, and Facebook totals more than a million views.

The song, sung in English, satirises regional stereotypes and parodies a Flat-Earth view. The YouTube upload includes subtitles in Chinese, Czech, German, Italian, Polish, Romanian and Spanish. The band briefly postponed the planned January 24 release by three days to support a general strike in Serbia organized by a student movement seeking responsibility for the 15 victims of the Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse.

The band said in an English statement that its members come from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia and that they back protests they see as fighting for dignity and a better life. Regional fact-checking services often address similar conspiracy claims.
