Artificial intelligence can help in education, health and business, but two basic problems limit its use in Sub‑Saharan Africa: unreliable electricity and slow, costly internet.
In many places people have no steady power and network connections often drop. Some countries have better electricity, but others still lack reliable power. Mobile data can be expensive, so cloud‑based AI is hard to pay for. Small companies and startups pay more for data and tools. Off‑grid solar systems give light and charge phones, but they cannot run powerful computers or local servers needed for many AI applications.
