Moon, a dedicated teacher from Myanmar, started her career in 2014 with a vision of transforming education into an inspiring and thought-provoking experience. Rejecting the traditional view of education as mere obedience, she fostered critical thinking and creativity in her classroom. However, after the military coup in 2021, Moon became a courageous protest leader, which put her life at great risk, forcing her to flee her home for safety.
In exile, she faced many challenges, including low pay and harsh working conditions. Yet, she continued to teach and expand her skills in storytelling and media. Her involvement in Exile Hub’s programs helped her amplify underrepresented voices, particularly those of LGBTQ+ youth.
Despite the struggles of exile, Moon remains hopeful. She dreams of opening a bookstore café and believes in the importance of nourishing both body and mind. She continues to inspire change with her teaching, embodying resilience and the power of education even far from home.
