Air pollution linked to higher post-surgery risks in Utah
A study of 49,615 non-emergency surgeries on Utah’s Wasatch Front found that higher PM2.5 in the week before surgery was associated with more post-surgical complications. The research appears in Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica.

Savar declared a degraded airshed over severe air pollution
The Department of Environment declared Savar a degraded airshed after monitoring found annual air pollution nearly three times the national standard of 35 micrograms per cubic meter. The decision responds to pollution from brick kilns, factories, transport and construction and new rules start September 2025.
Cleaner air in East Asia linked to faster global warming
A study in Nature Communications, Earth and Environment finds recent reductions in aerosol pollution across East Asia, especially China, have probably contributed to faster global surface warming since about 2010. Experts say urgent cuts to emissions and more adaptation finance are needed.
